“The Philippines is a great country, and great heritage and great people, it should need a great leader as well,” said by my foreigner friend across the table while we are having potluck party one time.

We all agree that we are in dire need of a true leader – one who is brave enough to walk the lonely roads of principle-centered leadership; one who will do the right thing even the rest of the media and the elite don’t agree. What we differ from is who we perceive can best lead us and our country into liberty, security and stability. Freedom from poverty, peace and security, that eventually leads to economic stability.

For this election, I’m voting for pro-OFW Manny Villar.

Here are my reasons why:

  1. He is the only presidential candidate I know who continuously helps OFWs who are in dire needs (and we are a-plenty!). At one time, more than 80 Filipino Overseas contract workers have returned home through his effort. He even gave houses to OFW’s for free. There might be motive behind his actions, but to help in one way or another, especially if others are in distress is still considered kindness. You can disagree to that.
  2. Why other candidates are not thrown with muddy attacks? Kapag hitik daw at mabunga ang manga, pinupukol. Some people asked why Manny Villar have many issues to confront, well, maybe because he has done so much and others doesn’t like it. And why others are perceived to be saintly? Perhaps because they didn’t take any risks at all. Perhaps because they have done nothing substantial.

It’s like a guy who play videos in his room all the day and to another guy who walk down the streets and helped an old woman cross the road, and indeed up scorned, cursed and spit out along the way for causing a halt to an already slow moving traffic. But the guy knows it is the right thing to do. It is by risking that we learn our lessons, gain experiences, succeed and feel better about ourselves.

  3. Because he is a billionaire and spends way above others, people assume he will recoup his expenses when he wins. So what about Manny Pacquiao? Do you think he too along with his billions will steal from government’s money? Manny Pacquiao said he is hurt by those accusations.
How much is Villar worth? $530 Million? P24 Billion? They said you will need a billion pesos to run as Philippine president. It is really that expensive to run for president in a country? Manny Villar said from a report of PCIJ.
“That depends, because if you’re an artista or you have a sibling who is one, or you’re supported by a studio or a TV station, you won’t really be able to say how much you need,” said Villar. “Now if you’re not an artista, you’re just one of the poor and no one recognizes your family name, maybe you would need to spend more to make yourself known. But what’s important is that you don’t violate any laws.”
  4. He comes on his own name. He didn’t ride along with any names associated with him. A shrimp vendor, sand and gravel businessman, and later a housing magnate, all by himself.
  5. I believe he is the most prepared presidentiable of all, ready to lead the country having served as congressman, Speaker of the House of Representatives, and President of the Senate. For the last 18 years, he was serving the country. I don’t know if other presidentiables have the same experience like his. We need a president that can lead, and manage, and can create jobs and make our country competitive. I believe no one has the capability to do that except Manny Villar.
  6. His values and management system, plus the way he treat his employees and staff is very important. He thought every one is a part of a team. No one should be left out. From the many testimonies, and the many people I know, he has values, and he live them, and his management style was so effective that people who work with him stays with him. He is one of those few who are excellent in both politics and business.
  7. He is a family man, with kids who have manners, and the way I see it, he and Cong. Cynthia Villar, his wife, raise them well.
  8. He knows defeat. Talking to his employees one time, Manny Villar says, “Kung sakaling manalo ako, most likely hindi ninyo ako makikita muna dito. What about his rival? Pag matalo daw sila, pupunta sila sa EDSA!

Remember that people can see the same thing but with a different perspective. This is how I see it. I hope we will see the same for our country too. There are just too much lies and negativity around him, all over the internet. People simply post or express anything without even the gut to verify or find out the truth. I have been carefully following stories and news for the last 6 months.

As the debate rages and as election abroad started, I have to make a stand. Others may not like it; I may offend some of my friends. But this is my personal stand, and I am not paid for doing this, I am not carried away by the stream of current, or swayed by the strong wind. I am voting for pro-OFW Manny Villar.

I am 100% with you. Everything in this article is well said. We share the same views and concerns. My family and majority of my friends are against me for choosing Villar. I stood by my decision until now. Since day 1, they really tried their best to discourage me. And then I just keep on asking them the same question that I have asked them a million times….”sell Aquino to me. why should i vote for him? what have he done for me? for my country? i never heard him pass any bill that has helped the needy. if you think you have positive answers to all my questions, then i will give it a try” Unfortunately, they cannot even give me one answer that will give me the ultimate satisfaction to choose their leader. There were times when Senator Manny was unjustly criticized for his lavish spending for this campaign through Facebook, i was furious. I wrote my friends a lengthy email citing them facts that will discredit their claims against Manny. Guess what, none of them could even reason out nor questioned my point. I dont fight with them the way they do. I just listen to them and when its my time to speak, all they could just hear from me are pure and simple facts. Tnx to forbes website, it helped me a lot in proving my point why Manny can afford to run this long and expensive campaign, its not just because of his money, but its all because of dedication and perseverance. And he prepared for it. Not like some coward individual out there leading the yellow bregade who never have the guts to decide whether he is for this calling until his mom died and grabbed the chance!!! So lame and so weak. It is not what I expect my leader should be.

i hav a comment earlier, i fully understands ur reason now and I can see ur sincerity and convictions while I also understands the convictions and commitments of some pinoys with principles Voting for either Gibo, Erap, Villanueva, Gordon, Noy, delos reyes…are all saying with similar presentation why they are for their respective candidates…Practically the word war now s more between Manny Villar and Aquino’s group all sectors supporting…bakya, intellectuals, professionals, businessmen, International personalities, etc…Whoever wins, all Pinoys only want to be happy thereafter and see this Nation finally voted the right candidate and not the COMELEC as usual…We just hope that if Manny Villar wins he will never come out winning with GMA and COMELEC again involved. Pinoys has never come to trust our COMELEC FOR OBVIOUS REASONS…for generations…

I really hope he wins. Because this country needs to be waken up. And fight to be one of the top succeeding countries in Asia just like it was long ago. The only person that can do that is Manny Villar. And that’s a fact that some people don’t want to accept. WAKE UP PHILIPPINES!

  8. on 23 Apr 2010 at 2:54 pmkabetz

I respect your view on Villar. I just want to point out that a shrimp vendor is different from seafood supplier. Villar’s mother was the latter. He studied at well known private schools up to post graduate studies. His father was a ranking government employee (an executive perhaps?. He did not come on his own, he has that already from the very beginning. He married Cynthia, from the rich Aguilar clan. If you are poor and married a rich girl, that’s fairy tale. He did supply gravel and sand…. How much capital one needs to put up a hardware and construction business?

Villar is a businessman. A very good planner. When did he started courting the OFWs? 2006? 2008? Everything is planned for self preservation. You see, everything is according to his plans. When he gets the sympathy of the OFWs, everything goes down the line, parents, siblings, other relatives, because he is perceived to be a good samaritan. If he is really a philanthropist, he should have done that way way back. Perhaps he could have saved Flor Contemplacion and many others.

What happen now to the families who rightfully own the 458 hectares of land in Bulacan that Villar “allegedly” grabbed? Why is he so mum on the allegations? The Daanghari in Cavite and C-5 extension are just some of his hocus-focus projects beneficial to his business which, ironically, stand controversial up to this time because he doesnt want to answer the so many questions surrounding these controversies.

Villar said he’ll focus on the problems in agriculture if elected. How? The once rice producing lands are now Camella Homes, San Marino, Portofino, Vista land, etc., etc., etc.

I pray that your conscience serves you right.

I am voting for Villar, because I saw how he worked for a better Philippines even before he decided to run for presidency. I am voting for Villar because he has done a lot as proved by his track record, not like other big-headed presidential candidate who did nothing for how many years in the congress and in the senate but was only lucky enough to carry his father’s surname, and was used by his party after seeing that they might use the death of his mom in getting into the soft spot of most Filipino voters. I am voting for Manny Villar because despite the adversities, I believe that he and Loren Legarda works for the Filipino people.

    To whom it may concern,

We have been blessed with so many BRILLIANT and COMPETENT LEADERS in the past. We had former Pres Marcos, Pres Fidel Ramos and now Pres Gloria Arroyo. Are we in any better position now? Our generation are trained to always be RESULT ORIENTED. But with all due respect look at the RESULT? Are there good results from our brilliant leaders? It is not enough to be BRILLIANT. We also needs SINCERITY AND ABOVE ALL HONESTY!!! Fellow Filipinos….we cannot allow a person to lead the country who have so many QUESTIONABLE DEALINGS AND TRANSACTIONS. THESE ACCUSATIONS ARE REAL AND NOT POLITICALLY MOTIVATED….please investigate the truth for yourself. Thank you. May GOD BLESS THE PHILIPPINES!

I fully subscribe to your views for I know Manny Villar from way, way back, actually during the early 70′s. He is simple, thoughtful, generous, looks back to his humble beginnings, intelligent and is really a champion for the OFWs’ welfare. We need a leader like him. And most of all, he knows the formula on how to defeat poverty which everyone wants to emulate.

“I hope we will see the same for our country too. ”

Sadly though, his rival is already successful in making a cult where voting for Manny Villar will be an unforgivable sin. His image was distorted by all the black propaganda which the people, through their weak emotions, believed firmly. But of course that’s only for all the people who believe what his rival is saying. For those who practice skepticism and judgment well, like us, we will stick to someone who has proven a lot from his childhood days to his college days and his days as being a family man.

Im sure Villar will Win!!!

I am pro villar. My whole family will vote 4 villar. F d Aquinos cnt even return d hacienda luisita 2 d farmers, how sure r we dat sen. Noy can gv justice 2 d country? Sen. Noy & sec. Gibo cnt even gv way 2 each oder 2 run as president. I’m prety sure dat one of d reasons y sen. Mar opted 2 run as vp because he knows dat he s much secured n dis position dan running against sen. Villar. Visayas region esp. Panay and negros occidental are solid to ilongo candid8s. Sen. Villar and sen. Mar will surely win n dis region. Go villar! Go villar!

I totally agree… with the article.
yes, Villar both have bad and good stints.
but that’s natural if you moved in to your journey–it attracts consequences. Noynoy is perfect clean man simply put he has done nothing to show — except being so pussy. As other saying goes,”If you are bright you must be rich”, i won’t agree Gibo’s cult as being intelligent among presidentiables–he is just fortunate to live his student life in the US university.

  28. on 24 Apr 2010 at 4:49 amvickie

Just want to comment that Aquino also spent by the millions for his campagn. So he needs to recover his money in cze he wins. Plus he’s beholden to so many people who’s fighting tooth nails and claws to make him win. That will be more people who will want to recovefr their expenses. We.ve alredy tried an actor, a lawyer, an economist but still the Philippines is still bankrupt. So now lets try a businessman. With his business accumen he might enrich nour country.

  29. on 24 Apr 2010 at 9:16 amKen Labe

Agree and here’s another point. Manny Villar can spend billions for his campaign and still remain a billionaire. And he has come to the point where in more money can not make him more happy, it’s leaving a legacy that can.

I really like the commercial of Manny Villar. It provides an inspirations to all the Filipinos especially the poor ones na “Hindi bawal mangarap ang mahirap, basta’t ito’y maaabot sa malinis na paraan”. It provides a message to all Filipinos that we can overcome any problem and obstacle in our life but we should do it in a right way. I believe that villar’s commercial is not a waste of money because it teaches everyone the importance of doing things in a right way. I believe his commercial will have many benefits now and in the future (our generation). I will lessen the crime, it will inspire Filipinos to work so hard, which will also boost the economy of the Philippines. With that, I will also vote for Manny Villar.

I only expressed my own opinion based on what I know, hoping somehow to influence others for the good of our country.

I am from Bacolod City and im in my 30′s. During my childhood, my father is a government employee and my mother is plain housewife. During my high school and college yrs, im a working student until i finished an engineering course. Dinaan ko tlaga ang hirap sa buhay… Now, i could say that i belong in the middle class due to my perseverance and the will to succeed in my business. So, when my Manny Villar runs for president, i could relate myself to him. Hindi ko na sya nakilala ng husto until he proclaim his candidacy. I do believe in him na “angatin ang buhay nating mahihirap”. So, i think he’s leaving a legacy before he dies.. He’s the one we’ve been waiting for a long time.. And we must grab this oppurtunity before its too late… Pls consider my opinion… tnx..

when the PSE and SEC denied the allegations against the illegal stocks and confirmed that Villar did not force them to grant his request of waiver and did not violate the law, the accusers now want the PSE and SEC to lie and accused Villar too inorder to satisfy their evil intentions.

Noynoy is not a baby and Noynoy is not and never will be Jesus Christ.

    Hindi Diyos si Noynoy!

For Noynoy and his people to claim he is “walang bahid” is a very disturbing claim.

Yes, I am taking this claim seriously. A person in his right mind will never claim to be”walang bahid”, clean and pure like Jesus Christ.

Even Noynoy’s religious advisers will agree that Noynoy is not Jesus Christ.

My only question to Noynoy and his supporters is this … ” Can you honestly and truthfully say with your conscience and good heart (if you truly have one) that Noynoy is “Walang Bahid” like Jesus Christ?

If Noynoy and his people answer “yes”, the church, religious groups, and the Filipinos should be very scared that we have this Narcissist with a Messiah Complex claiming he is “walang bahid”, clean and pure as Jesus Christ.

If Noynoy and his people answer “no”, therefore their claim of “Walang Bahid” is nothing but a lie.

NOYNOY and his family’s involvement in SCTEX, HELLO GARCI, HACIENDA LUISITA KILLINGS, MENDIOLA MASSACRE, KAMAGANAK INC. just to name a few, aren’t these bahid?

Among all the Presidential Candidates only Noynoy has this much bahid and the only known candidate with a bahid of killings and massacres (unless Noynoy and his people will once again concoct and spread lies).

THE 3RD COMMANDMENT: Thou shall not take the name of Lord Thy God in vain; for the Lord will not hold him guiltless that take his name in vain.

Did Noynoy swear to God in his commercial? Yes he did.

The Cojuangco-Aquino family promised to give the hacienda luisita farmers of their land. And after more than 4 decades, the Cojuangco-Aquino family have not fulfilled that promise.

To pray is good but to promise to God in your campaigns is not right.

And let’s not forget that Noynoy used and is still using Gods name in his campaigns – look at his website, even Noynoy’s senatorial line-up used God’s name again. SLAMAT LORRRD? Noynoy and his people will do anything and spell it wrong even just to be associated that God is on their side.

Noynoy and his people walang takot sa Diyos.

Noynoy is not Jesus Christ. Noynoy has bahid.

Noynoy is not God therefore you do not know who is good.

Noynoy promised to God in his commercial, do not forget the 3rd commandment.

NOYNOY AQUINO WALANG TAKOT SA DIYOS!

You are who you vote for!

A VOTE FOR NOYNOY IS A VOTE FOR THE DEVIL!

I’m not into name calling, but they continuously deceive, lie, brainwash, demonize the Filipinos.

    DO NOT VOTE DEMONoynoy!

FIGHT BETWEEN GOOD VS. EVIL & NOYNOY’S RESURRECTION

In Conrado de Quiros column on “It is Good vs Evil”. Conrado de Quiros a known Cory Aquino critic turned Noynoy minion. http://opinion.inquirer.net/inquireropinion/columns/view/20090914-225096/It-is-Good-vs-Evil

A few paragraphs from his column:
“The two Edsas were a fight between Good and Evil. Between Marcos and Cory, between Erap and the forces of Good arrayed against him.”

and the next part gets really scary …

“The reason there has been no Edsa III, as I’ve been saying again and again, is that while there has been an Evil, there has been no perceived Good. Until Aug. 5, with Cory’s burial. Until Sept. 9, with Noynoy’s resurrection.”

Noynoy’s resurrection? Are you comparing him to Jesus Christ again?

Who are these people to say who is good and who is evil?

Only God knows who is truly good

Are Noynoy and his people claiming once again to be like God, like Jesus Christ?

Noynoy is not Jesus Christ. Noynoy has bahid.
Noynoy is not God therefore you do not know who is good.

The same so-called “good” people who have blogged & emailed that those who do not support Noynoy are dishonest, bayaran, uneducated, stupid. In fact, these people are known for saying this line “siguro binayaran”. What Filthy minds.

The same so-called “good” people claim of purity and honesty yet when you check your inbox, emails of hate, black propaganda & lies, the original senders of the evil emails are known Noynoy supporters. You might even see a certain IT Group at the end of the email trail.

Its so sad that Noynoy and his people claim to be Christ-like,
yet they spread lies, belittle, insult Filipinos who will not vote for Noynoy.

Noynoy will demonize others to cover for his sins and lies, to cover his horns and his tail!

I go to Church but I am not an active member of the Church. I pray to God but I do not make promises in God’s name.
I am not perfect and I will not claim “wala akong bahid” and all Holy, but I love my kids, my family, this country and I believe in Jesus Christ.

I’m sure Noynoy and his minions are laughing right now how easy it is for them to lie and deceive people.

Senator Kiko you’re a known Christian, how could you let Noynoy use and involve God this much in his campaign?

We will never know whom God will side with. So Noynoy and his supporters should never claim that God is on their side.

It is easier to see who NOT TO VOTE for. It is easier to know who’s got the devil’s side.

I hate how Manny Villar uses blatant lies about his background to dupe the Filipino masses into voting for him. He was NOT poor at all but he takes advantage of the common Filipino’s sympathy for the underdog by twisting his life story. His mother was a seafood supplier. He went to a private grade school. His brother died in a hospital, under the care of professional doctors! If he were really poor, they wouldn’t have brought him to any medical institution at all for lack of funds.

Anyone who’s willing to dishonor his late brother’s memory to gain votes obviously lacks moral scruples. It just goes to show you how desperate Villar is to win. Do we really want another six years of someone who lies and manipulates the truth to get what he wants in Malacanang?

i feel sad that the yellow camp have been successful in their black propaganda against manny villar and people are indeed buying them. people become so emotional when cory died that they even want noynoy to run for the presidency despite the fact that he has done nothing as a politician. noynoy still is coming from a traditional political family. i can classify him as tradpol who just wins and sits in congress and senate without being effective as such. i do not buy the anti-corruption stance of noynoy at all. well, i will give him the benefit of the doubt in case he wins but with all the kamag-anak inc. and the people who doles out money for his campaign especially the lopezes, i am sure corruption will remain unabated when he is president of the country. it can even be uncontrallable because many big businesses are behind him. why manny villar is being bombarded with issues now? my reason is that he is villar. his name is not political at all. he comes from the business sector and we filipinos have this predilection for electing people coming from old political families who in all these years have not made this country progressive. that is more like preserving their name. so we have to make a change and choose manny villar. get away with the old politics of mudslinging and of guns and gold.

From the very start, I am really for VILLAR. Nakita ko sa kanya LAHAT ng aspects to be “THE NEXT PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF THE PHILIPPINES”. sayang lang dahil sinisiraan siya ng ibang Presidentiables at ibinabato ng kung ano ano akusasyon. Why those Presidentiables just work for their campaign to the entire philippines. Bakit ba sila?

At kay noynoy aquino,, pakisuyo naman po…wag ka namang garapalang manira ng tao.. noy, noong edsa1,, I am for Cory.. but I see the difference na talagang naghirap ang mga tao right after your serve the country.. WHY? Because she is NOT the one who runs the COUNTRY but HER ADVISERS.. (AND HOW MANY ADVISERS DOES SHE HAVE?)and what happened to our country now?

ill vote for Manny Villar…. he is the one…

  45. on 25 Apr 2010 at 5:40 pmbade

As for me,, mas maganda na ang mamuno sa ating bansa ay negosyante dahil alam nya ang pasikot sikot kung papaano ito tossed up ang kanyang kumpanyang kanyang hinahawakan… ONE example for this is the PRESENT MAYOR OF TAGUM CITY, DAVAO DEL NORTE who is also a business man.

SO LET US GIVE CHANCE “MANNY VILLAR” TO RUN THE COUNTRY AND BE THE PRESIDENT FOR 6 YEARS TERM…. at sigurado ako sasabihin ninyo na LET US GIVE MANNY VILLAR the second term or approved the parliamentary form of Government..

many things will be published, good or bad – and it can affect the reputation of the person involved — doesnt matter if the issue is true or not.. but at the end of the day, we’ll look at the persons character == how he conducts himself, manners and most esp the words that are coming out of his mouth — that tells so much about what kind of person he is! — and with that theres only one presidential candidate that i can commend.. of course its manny villar. grabeh, napaka-cool nya.. slow to anger, knows how to control himself..humble but confident about himself.. galing.. super, as i said many things will be said against him but when you look closer at him with an open mind, you’ll realized that he’s the one perfect for the job, the most competent one!!

Vote Villar for president

Sen. Manny Villar is a good leader. Nakatulong na sa mga maraming Pilipino. Magaling at matalino. He is a man of Action, malusog ang kaniyang kaisipan at kailanman di makukulong. Our Nation will become Great and greater.

I am a first time voter! And I don’t want to waste my vote. marahil isa lamang ako sa milyon- milyong kabataan na uhaw sa “pagbabago”. Nahirapan din akong mamili kung sino ba dapat, I did my own research sa lahat ng Presidential candidates,.. process of Elimination.

Sec. Gibo – at first I do like him, dahil talagang naeempress ako sa katalinohan niya.

Se. Villar – I doubt him at first, but… through some research and base on his capability to lead above the rest. On my own opinion, siya ang nararapat na maging president!

Based on my researches about candidates for philippine president including autobiography, political views, interests, capabilities, experiences etc.I should highly recommend to vote Manny Villar as president.I strongly believed na sa kanya nakasalalay ang pag-unlad ng ating pinakamamahal na bansang Pilipinas. He himself struggle and mold strong foundation in order to obtain a successful life, wherein we can sure he is a good leader for his countrymen and the whole Philippines as well.

With his 18 years experiences in political views, there is no single doubt that he can’t be able to govern our promising land smoothly and slowly rising up from poverty.Above all,we must not forget to glorify our Lord in the first place, and let him direct us in everyting we do and he will crown us with effort and success.

Manny Villar? are you kidding me. This guy can’t even answer all the allegations he has received. Will I name few?
    – C5Road Ext Proj
    – Bribery (happens a lot of time) He attempted to pay Juan Ponce Enrile to shut up the C5road issue and attempted to pay Gordon to quit running as president(obviously to get his support)
    – From Poor to Riches ? (hahaha what this, can a poor even afford prestigious hospital?)
    – What about black propagandas is he running, do you think its not even Villars doing?
    - OFW really? is it really to help OFW or its simple for the sake of President’s position? the funny thing is that he helped OFW and Published it in TV its obvious for Personal Gain not to help….
