Vetallano Acosta, erstwhile presidential candidate of the Kilusang Bagong Lipunan, has been disqualified by the Commission on Elections.
Comelec spokesperson James Jimenez announced the news via Twitter: “Disqualified na si Vetallano Acosta.”
The news follows revelations that Acosta was not registered voter in Sta. Ana, Manila where he claimed in his certificate of candidacy to be domiciled.
This is good news to Liberal Party standard-bearer Noynoy Aquino if the Comelec will reprint ballots.
With Acosta disqualified, Aquino will be the first in the list of names of presidential candidates in the said ballots.
Aquino had asked the Comelec to disqualify Acosta.
