Liberal candidates Noynoy Aquino and Mar Roxas, and reelectionist Nacionalista senator Pia Cayetano topped independent mock polls among overseas Filipino workers in the United Arab Emirates.
A total of 123 OFWs cast their votes in the mock polls organized by the San Beda Alumni Association-UAE chapter.
69 percent of respondents however said that they did not register for the overseas absentee voting slated to start April 10.
Here are the results for president:
- Liberal Party’s Noynoy Aquino 56.6 percent
- Lakas-Kampi’s CMD Gibo Teodoro 16.6 percent
- Nacionalista Manny Villar 16.6 percent
- Bagumbayan’s Dick Gordon 8.33 percent
- PMP’s Joseph Estrada 1.67 percent.
For vice president:
- Liberal Mar Roxas 61.48 percent
- Bagumbayan’s Bayani Fernando 14.75 percent
- PMP’s Jejomar Binay 10.66 percent
- Nacionalista/NPC’s Loren Legarda 4.92 percent
- Lakas-Kampi CMD’s Manzano 4.92 percent
- Bangon Pilipinas’ Perfecto Yasay 3.28 percent
Other candidates for president and vice president did not get any vote.
For senator, the top 12 choices were:
- Pia Cayetano (NP)
- Ralph Recto (LP)
- Miriam Defensor Santiago (PRP)
- Bongbong Marcos (NP/KBL)
- Frank Drilon (LP)
- Serge Osmena (LP)
- Gilbert Remulla (NP)
- Sonia Roco (LP)

- Juan Ponce Enrile (PMP)
- Jinggoy Estrada (PMP)
- Joey de Venecia (PMP)
Journalist Ares P. Gutierrez, SBAA-UAE president, said in a statement that the survey was meant to feel the political pulse of the Filipino community in this part of the world.
“The respondents were selected at random. We went to malls and places where Filipinos usually congregate and distributed survey forms. We also asked colleagues at work, housemates, neighbors and friends in our respective professional and social networks to ‘vote’,” said Gutierrez.
